Find out with IDlight! Retrieve public profile information. Pre-populate user profiles.

What?

What?

IDlight uses established and emerging standards like Webfinger, XRD and hCard to retrieve public profiles. Other well-known profile sources are explored too.

The resulting information is assembled in a profile entity, specified by this schema, and rendered as JSON or XML. The API itself, described by this WADL, is boringly simple.

If you've received the dreaded 404 No profile data found and you think IDlight could have done a better job, use the feedback button to let us know!

IDlight has been designed to support multiple sources of profile information and can be extended to support new ones. So tell us what we've missed!

IDlight is a free service and will remain so. If crowds of users come crashing our door asking for more performance or stability, we will consider offering a premium service.

In the meantime, if you like the service we provide and want to help keeping it running, please consider a small donation.

Use the test console below and enter an email or an HTTP(S) URL for the q parameter. You can also leave the _demo special value to see a full demo profile.

Otherwise, if you like curling, then just run: curl http://api.idlight.net/lookup?q={search_term}

The profile entity can be represented either in JSON or XML, based on the value of the Accept HTTP header (default is JSON).
